Balikbayan Priority Program

Coming home for a procedure?
Plan ahead before you arrive.

We help overseas patients prepare their travel dates, laboratory requirements, consultation, treatment planning, recovery, follow-ups, and return trip so their limited time in the Philippines can be used more efficiently.

How Balikbayan Priority Works

Make the Most of Your Time at Home.

We understand that overseas patients often have a limited vacation in the Philippines. The program helps coordinate consultation, medical requirements, and treatment planning efficiently while maintaining patient safety.

Our team will do its best to optimize your schedule within your available stay.

Priority coordination may include

  • Priority consultation scheduling whenever possible
  • Coordination of laboratory review and treatment planning
  • Priority surgery consideration based on your limited vacation
  • Pre-trip guidance and document preparation
  • Recovery, follow-up, return-to-work, and travel planning

Important

Priority is not automatic surgery approval.

Scheduling remains subject to completed tests, medical clearance when indicated, an in-person consultation and physical assessment by Dr. Bien Po, medical suitability, and surgeon and facility availability.

How to Prepare

Complete What You Can Before Arrival.

Early preparation may improve scheduling efficiency. It does not guarantee a surgery date.

  • Submit expected arrival and departure dates
  • Complete tests using the BienPoMD Laboratory Request Form
  • Obtain additional medical clearances when requested
  • Prepare medical records and previous surgical history
  • Prepare your medication list and known allergies
  • Attend the required in-person consultation with Dr. Bien Po

Planning can begin before you arrive.

Your medical assessment begins when we meet in person.

Our Clinical Standard

Why We Don’t Offer Virtual Consultations

A cosmetic surgery consultation is more than discussing photographs over a video call.

Proper planning may require in-person assessment of facial or body proportions, skin quality and elasticity, tissue thickness, soft-tissue movement, scars, previous procedures, underlying structures, symmetry, functional concerns, and overall medical suitability.

Photographs and video calls may help with general information, but they cannot replace a physical examination.

No Consult, No Surgery

Three-Stage Patient Journey

From Pre-Planning to Your Return Home.

Each stage protects time for proper evaluation, safe treatment planning, and recovery.

01

Before You Fly

Explore procedures, prepare records, complete requested tests when appropriate, submit travel dates, and contact the clinic for general planning help.

Start Pre-Planning →
02

When You Arrive

Your formal assessment begins: consultation, physical examination, history and laboratory review, suitability, expectations, and treatment planning.

The procedure date is finalized only after evaluation and remains subject to availability.
03

After Your Procedure

Allow time for initial recovery, follow-up, suture removal when applicable, return-to-work planning, and travel-clearance assessment.

Prepare Your Laboratory Tests Before Arrival

Verified Pre-Operative Forms.

Completing requested tests before arrival may help us review requirements earlier. Results must still be reviewed; added, repeated, or clearance tests may be required.

What Priority Means

Coordination—Never a Shortcut.

Eligible patients may receive priority consultation booking and surgery consideration after all requirements and the required in-person consultation are completed.

It does not mean

  • Guaranteed surgery or procedure date
  • Automatic medical clearance
  • Same-day procedure
  • Skipping consultation or laboratory requirements

It always means

Patient safety, appropriate medical assessment, and individualized planning take priority over scheduling convenience.

Vacation & Recovery Planning

Don’t Plan Only for the Procedure.

Leave flexibility for testing, follow-up, visible recovery, schedule changes, and long-haul travel.

  1. Consultation
  2. Possible testing
  3. Procedure
  4. Early recovery
  5. Follow-up
  6. Travel assessment
  7. Return home

Avoid Scheduling Your Return Flight Too Close

Fitness to travel depends on the procedure, recovery, postoperative findings, risk factors, complications, and final physician assessment. Treat any timeframe as an estimated travel planning window.

Do not book a non-refundable return flight based solely on an estimated recovery period.

When Can I Go Back to Work?

Timing differs for desk or remote work, public-facing work, light physical work, and heavy physical work. Medical recovery and socially acceptable downtime are not always the same.

Allow extra flexibility whenever possible.

Overseas Patient FAQ

Answers Before You Travel.

General planning guidance only; final recommendations follow an in-person assessment.

Can I schedule surgery before arriving in the Philippines?

We can help with pre-planning and priority coordination, but the procedure schedule is finalized only after the required in-person consultation, medical and laboratory review, and confirmation of availability.

Why can’t I have an online consultation?

A video call cannot fully assess tissue quality, elasticity, anatomy, scars, movement, and other findings that may affect planning. BienPoMD requires an in-person consultation before surgery.

Can I send photos before I arrive?

Photos may help the clinic understand your general concern for planning, but they do not replace an in-person medical assessment.

Can I complete laboratory tests abroad?

When appropriate, you may complete requested tests before arrival. Results remain subject to review, and added or repeat testing may be requested.

Will completing laboratory tests guarantee an early surgery schedule?

No. Advance preparation may improve efficiency, but scheduling remains subject to consultation, medical clearance when required, and availability.

Do Balikbayan patients receive priority booking?

Eligible patients may receive priority consultation scheduling and priority surgery consideration because of their limited stay. All requirements, medical suitability, and availability still apply.

How many days should I stay in the Philippines?

This depends on the procedure and individual recovery. Allow time for consultation, possible testing, the procedure, early recovery, follow-up, and travel clearance when required.

Can I fly immediately after surgery?

Travel timing depends on the procedure and recovery. Final fitness to travel depends on postoperative assessment and should not be assumed before surgery.

Can I return to work as soon as I travel home?

Not always. Timing depends on the procedure, work demands, recovery, and whether visible swelling or bruising matters for your job.

Planning Support Does Not Guarantee Treatment.

Balikbayan Priority is intended to improve planning and scheduling coordination for patients with limited time in the Philippines. It does not guarantee a consultation or surgery on a specific date, medical clearance, procedure eligibility, operating-room availability, or surgeon availability.

Final scheduling depends on completed and reviewed laboratory tests, medical clearance when indicated, an in-person consultation and physical assessment, procedure suitability, and surgeon and facility availability.

Patient safety, proper medical evaluation, and individualized treatment planning will always take priority over scheduling convenience.
