Why Balikbayan Priority Matters

Many OFWs and Balikbayans come home with only a short window for consultation, surgery, healing, and follow-up.

For surgical procedures, time should not be rushed.

The safest plan is to schedule early, complete requirements ahead of time, and allow enough recovery days before returning to work or flying back abroad.

At BienPoMD Aesthetics, we help maximize limited stays by guiding patients on realistic timelines, pre-operative requirements, and follow-up planning.

Plan Before Arrival

If surgery is being considered, booking ahead is strongly recommended.

To avoid delays, please complete laboratory tests and medical clearance at least 1 month before arrival in the Philippines.

Results may be sent to our email for initial review, or brought personally to the clinic during the appointment.

Final surgical clearance and recommendation will still depend on in-person consultation, physical assessment, and review of complete requirements.

Recommended Minimum Stay in the Philippines

Minor Procedures

Recommended stay: At least 2-4 weeks

This gives enough time for consultation, procedure scheduling, early wound check, and initial healing review.

Examples may include selected minor surgical procedures depending on the case.

Major procedures should never be rushed because swelling, bruising, wound healing, and post-operative monitoring take time.

STEP 2: PREPARE LABS AND RESULTS EARLY

Have the required lab tests and medical clearance done at least 1 month before the planned appointment to avoid delays.

Who Requires Lab Tests?

Minor Procedures

Lab tests may be required for minor procedures if the patient is:

50 years old and above
Undergoing a sedated minor procedure, regardless of age
With known medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, asthma, bleeding disorders, kidney disease, liver disease, or thyroid problems
Taking maintenance medications, blood thinners, aspirin, steroids, or other medications that may affect bleeding or healing
With history of allergy, anesthesia reaction, or previous surgical complication
Requested by the doctor after consultation based on medical history or procedure risk

Major Procedures

Lab tests and medical clearance are required for all major surgical procedures, regardless of age.

This includes procedures such as:

Liposuction
Brazilian Butt Lift
Rhinoplasty
Major fat grafting
Multiple combined procedures

Additional requirements will be confirmed after in-person consultation.

STEP 3: ATTEND CONSULTATION AND FINALIZE SCHEDULE

Final assessment, surgical plan, and clearance must be done in-person at BienPoMD Aesthetics.

The procedure date will depend on medical clearance, surgical suitability, and available schedule.

FINAL REMINDER

Plan the stay in the Philippines carefully

Both surgical and non-surgical procedures may temporarily limit certain activities during recovery.

This may include:

Sun exposure
Swimming
Beach trips
Mountain climbing
Strenuous activities
Social gatherings
Events requiring heavy makeup or prolonged photo exposure

It is important to complete all required follow-up visits before leaving the country.

For procedures that may temporarily change physical appearance, a medical certificate may be provided upon request.
